Imminent entry into force of the Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court

The Unified Patent Court (UPC) had announced its intention for the new system bringing together the European Patent with unitary effect and the Unified Patent Court to enter into force on April 1st,2023. On December 5th, 2022, this date has been postponed to June 1st, 2023. Consequently, the start of the sunrise period has been postponed also for two months, and it is now scheduled to start on March 1st, 2023, followed by the entry into force of the UPC Agreement on June 1st, 2023. Although not likely, additional delays might take place. In that case, we would keep you posted.

Meanwhile, at UNGRIA,we have developed a miniseries of three short videos to inform you about this new system and its two essential components (the unitary patent and the UPC), how they will affect you, and what steps and actions should be carried out from this very moment. Please, keep the new dates in mind for any references made to the initially scheduled ones.
