BRPTO and Brazilian Mint partner to combat piracy and enhance IP protection

The Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BRPTO) has taken another step towards protecting Intellectual Property (IP) assets and fostering innovation in Brazil. On Tuesday, July 1, the BRPTO and the Brazilian Mint signed a memorandum of intent focused on combating piracy and promoting IP culture.

In this context, and based on the Brazilian Mint's expertise in securing documents, the aim is to create seals to be applied to goods and services with registered trademarks and geographical indications (GIs), providing greater security for producers and consumers.

The seal will also make it easier to identify counterfeit products.

The next step will be to sign a technical cooperation agreement between the BRPTO and the Brazilian Mint, which will detail the work plan and delivery deadlines.
